Stitch and Bitch Amman

Woolly resources

One of Winkie’s legacies, apart from Stitch and Bitch itself, is the endless number of jumpers that were cut up (mostly by idle bitches, it has to be said) and neatly rolled into balls in preparation for rag rugging.

Well, three rag rugs of hers later and there are still at least 5 baskets of wool to get through.  As though we’re working to help the war effort, everyone’s doing their bit to use the strips of boiled wool up before the moths get to enjoy them.

Anne is diligently working away at a blanket of knitted squares:

I have been using the strips to wrap the skeletons of lampshades:

And Sally made a mini rag-rug – she wins the prize for using up the most wool so far:

First you have to sketch out the shape

Then choose the colours

Then choose the colours

Then start the process of filling in

Until it gets to look....

Until it gets to look….

....something like this

….something like this

Ta daaaaa!

  1. ladies.. LOVE the productivity… nice work on the ragrug sally… you been listening to ivis who ALWAYS said you have to draw it out first… (I never did, resulting in LOTS of undo / redo action). Plus I love that lightshade… maybe I’ll pick up some rug wool from Kairouan and do a similar one (can;’t face cutting up my 35 cashmere sweaters acquired since i came to Tunis.. that’s for a square-felted-blanket)
